3rd Grade — Avery County Schools

    Hello Families!

We hope you had a great weekend!

    Literacy

This week, we will be presenting our final projects for our marine life posters and sharing our final essays with each other.  We will then write letters to next year's third-graders - giving them advice, insight, and things to look forward to!

Please continue to have your child read for 30 minutes every night!

    Math

This week in math we will continue with our last few lessons for Saxon math.  No homework will be assigned.

Please return all Saxon math books by Wednesday of this week!  Thank you!

    Social Studies & Science

This week, we will be reading the last chapter in our unit: Exploration in Early North America.  We will send home a study guide on Tuesday.  We will play jeopardy on Wednesday and their test will be on Thursday.

    Summer 2022 Camps

Cherry Creek Academy is excited to host summer camps this summer.  Please select from the offerings below for the camp(s) that best suits your schedule, child’s age, and sport(s) you wish to attend.  Each camp has a participation fee of up to $200 and will require registration paperwork to be filled out by the parent or guardian before the student can participate in the summer camp. Participation fees include a long sleeve CCA Athletics T-shirt.  Please notify Mr. Mahan with any questions you may have at dmahan@cherrycreekacademy.org. Once you have registered, you will receive confirmation and be connected with the coach or teacher for that camp.

Please note, that these camps will fill up fast. We will honor the first 30 to sign up for K-2 Movementsoccer, volleyball, martial arts, basketball, and art camp for each session.  Our Cross Country Camp is grouped so that no more than 15 may sign up for each session.  If there is an overwhelming number of participants, we will consider an additional 3rd session for that camp.  The additional session will take place June 13th-17th for volleyball, soccer, martial arts, and basketball.  Please adhere to the practice times for each camp.  Students not picked up from their camp within fifteen minutes of the end time will be given one opportunity to stay with the coaches.  After the second late pickup, we will issue a refund for that student and they will no longer be able to participate in that session.

    Ms. Achs and Ms. Doyle

    May 23 - 27, 2022

Our young artists are superstars!  Their artwork looked amazing last week at the Spring Art & Music Festival.  It was an incredible event and it was so nice to have our school community back together in person for this event.  As we finish our last two days of art this week, look for artwork coming home.  We will be taking down and returning art to students this week as well as sending home our last projects that we are working on.  It was an amazing spring semester and I am so glad I got to teach our 3rd graders this year.  I hope everyone has the summer break they are dreaming of and we can get back together in the fall and hit the ground running for another amazing year.  I hope some of our new 4th graders will join me to paint in our Canvas and Cookies sessions this summer.  If I don’t see you this summer, then, until we meet again, take care!

Here is the code to scan to sign up for any of the 4 Canvas and Cookie sessions during the month of June:
